Aerolite

Aerolite crystals harness the power of air and wind. When unrestrained, they hover above the ground — and the stronger the crystal, the greater the lift.

Overview

Aerolite crystals harness the power of air and wind. They appear as a beautiful, wispy light blue colour with purple and yellowish colorations appearing to float and mix inside the crystal — as if suspended in a liquid, similar to opal.

When not held down by anything, Aerolite crystals tend to hover above the ground, depending on how strong they are. In fact, a common measurement of their strength is the amount of upward force they exert when left at rest. A weak specimen may only just lift itself; a powerful one may resist being pushed down entirely.

Applications

Aerolite crystals are used in a wide variety of applications, owing to their innate buoyancy and affinity with moving air.

  • Skyships — Mature and Champion-grade Aerolite crystals are the primary power source for skyship construction and propulsion across Ardelûn.
  • Floating Architecture — Certain structures in wealthy cities are partially or fully suspended using banks of Aerolite crystals embedded in their foundations.
  • Air Lifts — In New Aerilon, Aerolite-powered lifts are used to carry passengers and cargo between the city's tiered levels.
