Overview
Verdathyst is the most common of all the resonance crystals. It channels the power of nature — healing, growth, and the sustaining forces of living things. Verdathyst appears as a vibrant green crystal that, unlike the other crystals, naturally forms in an almost perfectly smooth ovular shape rather than with sharp edges or a cubic structure.
The inside of each crystal appears to have etchings forming advanced and elegant natural geometric circular shapes — unique to each individual specimen, similar to a fingerprint but in three-dimensional space. These patterns glow a dim green, and stronger Verdathyst crystals have been observed to glow brighter with more intricate and intense designs within them.
Origin
A number of millennia after the events of the Year of the Red Sun, patches of regrowth began springing up around Im'ran Dorei that seemed to come back greener and more vibrant than ever before. The most notable of these became what is known today as the Brutewilde — thick jungles of trees and naturally divergent creatures and species that exist nowhere else in Ardelûn.
Verdathyst can be found buried around 6–20 feet underground in these areas, usually in the most dense and lush regions. The crystal appears to be a byproduct of the same extraordinary force of nature that gave rise to the Brutewilde itself.
Applications
Verdathyst's power to heal and aid natural forces in growth and life makes it particularly valuable in medicine and the healing arts. Minor Verdathyst crystals are commonly used by the wealthier practitioners of medicine across Ardelûn, allowing for accelerated healing and recovery beyond what conventional treatment can achieve.
Its relative abundance compared to other resonance crystals means it is also the most affordable for everyday use — though Champion-grade specimens remain costly and highly sought after by healers, physicians, and those who study life magic.

Relationship to Necroshard
Verdathyst is the source material for Necroshard, which is produced by corrupting Verdathyst through the forbidden alchemical process known as Stone-turning. Because of this, Verdathyst is sometimes subject to additional scrutiny in regions where Necroshard is outlawed, as authorities may wish to track and regulate large quantities of it to prevent conversion.
